How to Make the Law of Attraction Work for You

The Missing Piece to Creating the Life You Have Always Wanted

How to Make the Law of Attraction

Work for You

DLScott CH.t / CDP / AASD

How many times have you heard people tell you that all you need to do to attract things into your life or change obsessive / compulsive / addictive behaviors is to think positive thoughts, visualize the outcome, and it will be yours?

As I mentioned in the Three Laws of Sobriety, there is a big piece of information left out of the advice.  The answer is HYPNOSIS!!!!!

From the moment you are born, your five senses have been recording information and data from the outside world and then storing it into the part of your brain that most people generally refer to as the subconscious.  These bits of information have been recorded and agreed to, as the program that runs our personal version of life.  Think about it.  As you grew up you were taught the meanings of words such as daddy, mommy, food, good, bad, etc. The meanings of these words vary from person to person based on the source of the information, but the concepts are usually very similar.

Our lives have been guided by many, many sources: the adults in our lives, our care givers, school, teachers, religious leaders, the media and anyone else who was able to get our attention. These adults and authority figures were simply passing on the meanings and agreements that had been passed on to them. In many cases the meanings and the agreements were put in place to make sure that we learned and accepted our place in society.

This is a good thing and a bad thing. We learned great lessons, such as it is wrong to kill, lie, cheat, or steal, unless there is a higher purpose such as protecting ourselves in battle, or maybe telling a white lie to avoid hurting someone’s feelings, or….. well you get the idea.

The problem is that we are raised / trained in the same way that we

train our pets and livestock. We are taught how to act and how to perform, based on assumptions and ideas that may not always be true.  By the time we become teenagers we have been instilled with rules and laws that are so ingrained, so internalized, that we don’t even bother to question them, and if we break even one of those rules, we punish ourselves with negative self talk, negative self image, and such huge amounts of guilt and shame that we come to believe that we are not good enough, we are not worthy of anything good in our lives.

Now you are told that all you have to do is think of what you want, visualize the outcome; turn on the positive images, and the items that you think of have to come to you.   IT IS THE LAW OF THE UNIVERSE!!!!

While that is true, we do create our lives according to what we focus our attention on, we have to recognize just what it is that we are focusing our attention on.

The moments that we spend focused on our deliberate wants and desires are far outweighed by the thousands and thousands of random, negative images, beliefs, and agreements that are constantly running in the background.

I mentioned in an earlier article that trying to override old thoughts and old agreements with new, positive thoughts and agreements is a lot like trying to wax your car without first washing away the dirt and grime that has built up over time.

You need to take the step that is usually left out when you are being told about The Law of Attraction, aka, The Law of Attention. You must first clean up the dirt and the grime before putting down the new coat of wax.

This does not need to take months and years of slow and laborious talk therapy. It can be accomplished quickly and efficiently, utilizing the power of Hypnosis, the power of altered states of consciousness.

With the use of Foundations Hypnosis Seattle ~ Bellevue’s Emotional Release Therapy, you are taught how to lower the vibrational pattern of your brain waves, and quickly weed out unwanted and deeply buried beliefs and agreements.  Once you have removed the emotional attachments to these unwanted, negative beliefs and thoughts, there is nothing that will stand in the way of you creating and living the life of your dreams.

Make your move!!! Fill out one of the easy and convenient assessments on this website, or call (206) 417-4900 to set up an appointment to start living the life you have always dreamed of.

The Three Levels of Brain Function

February 24th, 2010

Personal Energy Mastery works under the principle that the mind is divided into three distinct parts:

1) The Medulla or reactive / instinctual mind which is in charge of our instincts, our hormonal control, and basic drives such as hunger, reproductive drives, temperature control, respiration and heart rate.

2) The Sub cortical area deals with and stores our emotions / memories / triggers. This is where we store 1000(s) & 1000(s) of images of events and memories that continual play as though on a recorded loop, and help sustain our accepted beliefs and agreements.

3) The Cortex area deals with Self –awareness in this area we can problem solve by being aware of our thoughts and beliefs. With this portion of the mind we can choose appropriate behavior based on our self awareness, or self reflection. This is the area of brain that rarely gets used, that we let lay dormant.

Each of these brain levels is very important to our survival in the world, and each is activated by various stimuli. The Medulla or instinctual mind, which is always working to control our basic needs, breathing, pulse rate, urges, etc., can activated by our flight or fight response.

The Sub cortical area is constantly running, it is constantly creating our outside experience via our focus of attention, and unless, and until, we consciously take control of our focus of attention, we tend to repeat the same patterns over and over again. Notice how we will end up in the same type of relationship, the same type of jobs, the same situations / life circumstances. Some of the details may be different, but the energy is the same. This occurs because of the vibrational pattern of emotions that are tied into our prevalent images stored in this area of our brains.  The word “emotion” can be defined as “energy in motion”.  Emotions are very strong feelings such as Anger, Joy, Elation, or Fear. These emotions cause physical changes in the body. The effects can be either positive or negative dependent upon the type of emotion and the intensity of the emotion.

Sometimes we are unaware of our emotions, and how they are affecting our body, but they affect us in many ways such as tension, and stress. It has been reported that the biggest threat to our health is our stress levels. Stress affects us in five specific and measurable ways:

1)    Increases our heart rate

2)    Causes tension in the muscles and joints of our body

3)    Increases Toxins in the body

4)    Decreases our ability to flush out those toxins

5)    Lowers the body’s immune response

The Cortex is that area of the brain where our intellect is seated. It is the area where we have pure thought without attachment to emotion. When we feel centered and clear, it is this area of the brain that allows us to focus on what we want, instead of focusing on what we don’t want.

It has just been in recent years, scientists have discovered that the heart has its own independent nervous system—a complex system referred to as “the brain in the heart. This system receives and relays information back to the brain in the head, creating a two-way communication between heart and brain, by which the heart interacts with the nervous system, and the three different levels of brain functions. (See illustration on previous page).

When you learn how to meditate using the Foundations Hypnosis Personal Energy Mastery System, you will be able to effectively communicate with the three levels of the brain function that will help you achieve amazing things in your life.

When we are upset, panicked, or anxious, it becomes hard to think clearly. Making a wise choice is very hard for everyone when they are emotional upset. BUT what if you could learn to control your e-motions (energy in motions, i.e. (personal energy mastery), and begin to feel confident and secure?

With Foundations Hypnosis Personal Energy Mastery you will learn how to connect with the heart of mind, and quickly release old agreements and beliefs while incorporating new beliefs, new agreements, and new desires into your life.

The basis of Foundations Hypnosis (Personal Energy Mastery) Seattle ~ Bellevue is a technique called Emotional Release Therapy. With this technique you will be guided through a quick process that allows you to remove old and unwanted emotions that are tied into beliefs and agreements, so that you can start adopting new POWERFUL & POSITIVE beliefs and agreements that will help you move ahead in life.

Through this program you will learn

            1) Basic Meditation

            2) Dynamic Mediation

            3) How the brain works

            4) How to deal with change

            5) Detaching from old emotions based on old beliefs and agreements

            6) Letting go of the Ego

            7) Ridding yourself of unwanted habits and compulsive behaviors, (such as

drugs, cigarettes, alcohol, and food addictions.

            8) Incorporating new life beliefs

            9) Awareness of self

            10) Forgiveness

An easy way of conceptualizing this is to think of waxing your car.  If you go out and put down a coat of wax, without first removing the old dirt and grime, that old dirt and grime will quickly show through and render the new wax job useless.

You can take complete control of your life; stop living a life of pain and angst, and start living the life you have always wanted. Don’t delay take Foundation’s easy on line assessment, or call (206) 417-4900 and set up an appointment.

A Will Power Approach, or A Holistic Approach

February 5th, 2010

DLScott CH.t / CDP

A client recently called me to find out if Hypnosis would be a good tool to use when someone is dealing with anxiety, and phobias.

My first response is that Hypnosis is a good tool to use when dealing with any form of fear or phobia that is blocking you, but I also went on to add, that I hesitate in making it a one shot deal, one induction fits all type of approach.

The most important thing to remember when you are dealing with phobias or mental blockages is to figure out what the benefits of the phobias or mental blockage are.  Think about that, if you have a fear of bees and you are allergic to bees, then your phobia has a clear benefit, it keeps you away from bees. If you are blocking yourself from performing some dangerous activity, or some perceived dangerous activity than you may not want to get rid of the blockage, at least not all together. You may want to simply modify the behavior or the blockage, or at least find out how to continue reaping the same benefit(s) without the consequences.

Think about that, Hypnosis is not a matter of will power; it is a way of using the same power of the mind that created the behavior or addiction, to easily and safely create a new option a new behavior that is healthy, beneficial, and positive for you and those around you.  Once you are able to let go of the old behavior, and gain the same benefits in another way, then the old behavior seems to melt away almost without effort.

With Foundations Hypnosis Seattle ~ Bellevue, the first step is always in determining just what is the benefit of the behavior you are seeking to get rid of. I don’t care whether you consider that behavior an addiction, a phobia, or a compulsive behavior.

1)      Helping the client to determine what it is they do want, as opposed to what they don’t want.

2)      Detachment from the emotional & reactive parts of the brain, otherwise known as the sub-cortical and Medulla oblongata areas of the brain, that have kept you stuck in the problem. (Like Albert Einstein said, “you can’t solve the problem at the level of the problem).

3)      Learning and practicing very effective and simply methods of bringing balance to the body, and the brain, allowing you to take control of random and involuntary thoughts and emotions stored in the sub cortical areas of the brain.

4)      Using various levels of the trance state to allow the client to incorporate new images, and thoughts to help create the new behavior that they want to obtain.

Hypnosis is one of the most power tools for change. If you are seeking to change, enhance, create the life of your dreams, or just bring more joy into your life, then don’t delay. Take one of the convenient on line assessments, and find out more about how you can deliberately manifest your future.

Accepting Our Greater Good

January 25th, 2010

DLScott CH.t / CDP / AASD

When you wake up in the morning do greet the day with smiles and excitement, or do your often feel like pulling the blankets up over your head, and hiding out from the world? Are you experiencing happiness, joy, and abundance, or are you dodging the boss, creditors, or one bad relationship after another? Are you accepting all the good that is yours to command, or are you simply trying to survive another day?

One of the hardest things to accept in life is that we are all 100% responsible for every single event in our life.  Every event, good, bad, or indifferent, shows up in our lives because of our focus of attention. Now before you hit the exit key, let me explain something here. The Law of Attraction works whether we are aware of it or not. Now you may say that I would not have attracted the accident, or the illness, or the debt, and in a way you are correct. You would not have deliberately attracted those things into your life, but given the fact that whatever we put our attention on, what we focus on, is what shows up for us, it is impossible to say that the Law works sometimes and not others.

By utilizing the power of your mind, through Hypnosis, and NLP, you can choose to change your thinking, you can choose to change your focus of attention, and you can choose new thoughts, and new images to guide your life experiences.

You start the process by releasing old beliefs, old resentments, and old angers through the power of Emotional Release Therapy, a unique technique that you will experience with each session of Foundations Hypnosis Seattle ~ Bellevue. Along with the power of Emotional Release Therapy, you will be guided through a series of hypnotic inductions, skills, and tools that will allow you to create new thoughts, new emotional reactions, and new focus in your life. When you start doing this, you will be amazed at how quickly the old behaviors, the old beliefs, and habits, such as addictions, fears, phobias, relationship issues, and money issues just begin to fade away, and a whole new life begins to emerge.

Don’t delay; take charge of your thinking and your life today. Take one of the online surveys located on this website, and see about setting up an appointment to start manifesting the life you have always dreamed of.

Welcome to Foundations 2010

January 21st, 2010

Welcome to Foundations 2010
DLScott CtHA / CDP

At a recent meeting of the National Guild of Hypnotherapist, I gave a lecture on one of my favorite subjects; The Three Laws of Sobriety.

I had been hesitating in giving this lecture because I was just unsure of what I wanted to really talk about. I mean here I was being asked to present a topic to friends and colleagues about a subject that we all know well, and that of course is Hypnosis.

I have to tell you, I think I learned more from the lecture than anyone in the audience.

What I believed is that I had to talk about a specific technique, a specific tool or exercise that I use with my clients. What I discovered is that my specific technique is my experience and personal philosophy.

I have been in the field for about twenty years at this point in my career. I have clients who come to me for a variety of reasons, smoking cessation, drug addiction, self worth & self esteem, panic & anxiety, and sleeping issues. When I first learned the art of hypnosis, I was trained in specific inductions, and techniques, that could help a client refocus or reprogram their minds. What I have discovered over the years, is that clients don’t have to reprogram their minds, they simply need to be reminded to refocus their minds.

Each client that walks through the door is a perfect, whole, and complete human being, with talents, strengths, fears, passions, and abilities to create anything they desire. Each client has been able to create the life that they are living, sometimes they are not happy with their creation, and that is where hypnosis comes into play.

There is no magic bullet that is going to solve your problems, but there is this incredibly powerful organ called the brain that contains all the power and ability to draw to you whatever you want. You just have to follow a couple of simple rules.

1) Learn to direct your thoughts. As I tell all of my clients, you are not your thoughts, you are not your emotions, and you are not your body. You are the energy, the consciousness behind the thoughts; you are the consciousness behind the emotions, and the body. For years have been told “I think, therefore I am.” WRONG!!!!! You think because you have been given a brain that is designed to think, but you, the true essence of you, are the director and creator of your life and your life is based upon those thousands and thousands of thoughts. I teach clients how to accept and make peace with all of those random thoughts, and then to start utilizing those thoughts to attract the type of life you have always dreamed of.
2) Let go of the guilt and shame of the past. We always do our best at any given moment. Just because you performed a certain behavior in the past, does not mean that you are doomed to keep repeating those behaviors. I help you to figure out what the benefits were or are that you get from the thoughts and behaviors, and once you understand what that is, you can now develop new skills, and new tools to obtain those same benefits in a more appropriate way.
3) When we see a problem or an issue that we want to clear up, the first thing that you have to do is See the solution, and then you can start the process of Setting the solution. Nothing can be successfully changed by force or will upon the outside world of effect. The first you have to do is to See the solution in your mind. Believe me all else will fall into place once you begin to use you’re the tremendous power of your mind to See the solution.
4) Finally, and this is the really tough part, The only thing you are ever really in control of is yourself, your attitude. You cannot honestly control , or change the behavior and activities of those around you. If someone else is going to change, it is because they want to change, not because you made them change.

Ask any of my clients, this is why Foundations Hypnosis is so successful as a way of changing your life and reaching your goals. Do you have something you want to change or create in this New Year, this new decade? Then please fill out one of the assessment forms on this website, or give me a call. I assure you, you will be glad that you did.

Relaxed & Free Smoking Cessation

July 15th, 2009

Hypnosis Seattle ~ Bellevue Low Cost Effective Smoking Cessation Program
Foundations Hypnosis Seattle ~ Bellevue

DLScott CH.t. / CDP / AASD
www.dlscottpersonalenergymastery.com
Confession of a former Nicotine Addict, I use to smoke close to two packs of cigarettes per day. I had quit on two different occasions, and had earned the health condition known as Chronic Bronchitis. My breath, clothes, hair, house, and car, smelled like an overflowing ashtray, and yet I continued to smoke.
What in the world made me continue this repulsive, nasty habit? What possible benefits could outweigh the consequences that were piling up in my life?
Well let’s see, first there was stress relief. Every time I felt tense, stress, or any uncomfortable emotion, all I had to do was light up my trusted friend, and I felt better immediately.
You see, nicotine is actually in a class of drugs called stimulants, and as with all stimulants it forces the release of such neurotransmitters such as serotonin, dopamine, and nor epinephrine. These neurotransmitters are in charge of reward, drive, pleasure, and stimulation.
The problem is that the effects are only temporary, and cigarettes were also causing health issues which include
• Increased chances of heart attacks
• Increased chances of cancer
• Limited or diminished lung capacity
• Early wrinkles, and age spots
• Smelly clothes, breath, home, and car
• Yellow teeth, and skin
• More frequent illnesses
• Increased insurance rates
Along with all of that the cost of cigarettes continue to increase with each passing day. Today the cost of a pack of cigarettes is between seven and eight dollars a pack, (just recently the cost went from $7.00 to $7.65), a smoker is paying about $225.00 a month just to support this life threatening habit.
It is a proven fact that out of all the ways of quitting smoking or smoking cessation, the most effective is Hypnosis, usually producing a success rate of 90 to 92 % or higher. This is compared to nicotine patches, which produce 27% success rate, behavioral therapy at 24% success rate, or trying to quit on your own at 7% success rate.
Hypnosis works with the subconscious portion of your mind, giving you a new more effective ways of dealing with stress, while implanting images and thoughts that automatically increase the production of the above mentioned neurotransmitters, without the side effects of the nicotine.
While some programs promise results in just one session, the statistics suggest otherwise. A program that consist of three to five sessions spread out over a few weeks period is generally found to be more effective, and creates a better foundation for your quitting smoking. As with any addiction / recovery program the stronger the foundation, the greater the chance of success.
Also please be aware of costs. Like any program, you will find a variety of cost and charges. Just because a program charges you hundreds of dollars does not mean that it is more effective. Many high quality & effective programs, run by trained hypnotist and chemical dependency counselors can be found for anywhere from two to three hundred dollars. This is either slightly less or slightly more than what you pay on a monthly basis to continue to smoke.
Confession of a former Nicotine Addict, I use to smoke close to two packs of cigarettes per day. I have not smoked in over twenty six years, and I have never had an issue with urges or cravings. Hypnosis works, and it works well.

The Three Rules Of Sobriety, Part Four

July 13th, 2009

The Three Rules of Sobriety
Part Four
Foundations Hypnosis Seattle ~ Bellevue

We began this series by looking at traditional chemical dependency treatment vs. non-traditional treatment, in this final installment we are going to look at how to use the 3 Rules of Sobriety to take an active role in the creation of your own recovery, in other words we are going to look at How you are not powerless over your drug and alcohol use.
When a client first comes to see me for an issue with drug or alcohol addiction, they are usually tired and depressed, having dealt with the consequences of their addiction on a daily basis. They are also sure that accepting the idea of powerlessness over their addiction is not how they are going to find a way out of the mess.
As you recall from the first three parts of this series, we introduced three very simple ideas or rules:
1) The Rule of Attention: What you put your attention on increases in your life.
2) The Rule of Detachment: You are not your thoughts; you are not your body, you the power behind the thoughts and feelings, you are the creator and director of your life.
3) The Rule of Deliberate Creation: Recognizing that you are in charge of your reactions, and you are attracting into your life what you truly focus on, then the best course of action would be to deliberate direct and create your life instead of just letting things happening without your conscious input or control
What you focus on is what you experience in your life. When you decide that you want to stop a behavior, such as drinking, or drug use, or smoking cigarettes, what is it that you focus on? Do you focus on the behavior that you want to rid yourself of, or do you focus on the behaviors that you want to experience?
To help you understand this better I want you to try this experiment: I want you to close your eyes, take a deep breath, and then not think about the Statue of Liberty in the New York Harbor. (pause) O. K. now being very honest, how many of you immediate created an image of the New York Harbor and the Statue of Liberty, and / or how many of you struggled to not create an image of the Statue of Liberty in the Harbor?
You see what we put our attention on, is what comes up in our minds, and what comes up in our minds is what we tend to attract or create in our lives.
When I have a client who says “but I did not create these problems in my life.” I have to agree. I am sure that they did not deliberately create, or attract these issues into their lives, but I am sure that without conscious awareness they kept setting up situations and events in their lives that would allow them to experience exactly what their thoughts were focused on.
The idea is that if you want to experience a life free of Drugs, Alcohol, or Obsessive Compulsive Behavior, then you need to figure out what it is that you do want to experience in life. What are the situations that you want to experience? Do you want to experience good relationships, good jobs, abundance, joy, and happiness? With the help of Foundations Hypnosis Seattle ~ Bellevue, you can look at, and identify those behaviors that you don’t want to have in your life, detach from the feelings associated with those behaviors, and then start deliberately creating those things that you do want.
The first step in this journey is: ADMIT WE ARE POWERLESS OVER EVENTS AND OTHER PEOPLE, BUT WE HAVE COMPLETE CONTROL OVER OUR OWN REACTIONS AND ATTITUDES TOWARD THOSE EVENTS AND OTHER PEOPLE. WE ARE YOU IN COMPLETE CONTROL OF OUR CHOICES, AND BY UTILIZING THE IMMENSE POWER OF OUR MINDS; WE CAN CREATE THE LIFE THAT WE DESIRE.
Take that first step and regain control of your life. You will be amazed at what you can accomplish.

The Three Rules of Sobriety Part Three

July 9th, 2009

The Three Rules of Sobriety
Part Three
Foundations Hypnosis Seattle ~ Bellevue

So far in this series we have looked at traditional chemical dependency treatment vs. non-traditional treatment, in this case the non – traditional treatment involves the use of the three Rules of Sobriety, which are:
1) The Rule of Attention: What you put your attention on increases in your life.
2) The Rule of Detachment.
3) The Rule of Deliberate Creation.
(See Part One for further details of these rules.)
In part two of this series we looked at the basis of how the Rule of Attention / Attraction works. In this third part of the series we will look at Rule #2 The Rule of Detachment.
When a client first comes to see me, one of the ideas that I inject into their mind is that they aren’t their thoughts, they aren’t their body. They’re the consciousness behind these things. The best way to explain this is to think about a car. If you get in to the driver’s seat of a car, turn on the ignition, put the car into gear, release the brake, and then get out of the car, what would happen? The car would start aimlessly moving until it hits something or goes off the road, crashes, etc. This is much the same situation with you. Our brain is like the engine to the car, and our body is chaise of the car. With our thoughts the brain directs the activity of the body. It moves the body in various directions, but unless you, the driver of the car, i.e. the consciousness behind the thoughts, are actually directing the thoughts, our body will quickly bump into and / or crash into daily events and activities that may cause serious issues.
Now think of urges / cravings as simply thoughts, thoughts that will guide our bodies / cars into serious accidents and crashes unless you take control of those thoughts and begin directing your life.
How can you do this? The first task is to learn to detach from your thoughts. Oh I don’t mean to ignore your thoughts, thoughts are important, and very powerful things. With thoughts you can do things like solve difficult problems, or sometimes easy problems, and perform various tasks throughout your day. Without your thoughts you would simply not be able to function in this world, BUT, it is important that you learn that you don’t have to give into every thought that you have. When you have a thought that says, “It sure would feel good to have just one drink” or “I have had such a stressful week, it sure would be nice to go out and just have a little coke, crank, crack, ecstasy, GHB, etc., so I can finally relax and enjoy myself”.
What you need to be able to do is to figure out how to deal with whatever was causing your week to be so stressful in the first place, and then figure out a more appropriate response. The response should be one that does not rely upon your addiction or compulsion of choice.
This ability can be learned through the power of self hypnosis / meditation. Foundations teaches these skills along with using Clinical Hypnosis to clean up old memories, old agreements, and help you develop new images, new agreements that will allow you to move from a life of addictive behavior to a life of easy and strong recovery.
How can this be done, and what will that be like? Are you interested in a program that can change your life dramatically for the better? Be sure and come back to read part three of this series.

Three Rules of Sobriety Part Two

July 8th, 2009

The Three Rules of Sobriety
Part Two
Foundations Hypnosis Seattle ~ Bellevue

In part one of this series we looked at an overview of traditional Chemical Dependency treatment, and how it uses a lot of 12 step methodology to treat the issue of addiction. We also briefly looked at the Three Rules of Sobriety, and how they can be used as a more effective basis for treatment of Obsessive, Compulsive, and Addiction issues.
Those Three Rules are:
1) The Rule of Attention: What you put your attention on increases in your life.
2) The Rule of Detachment.
3) The Rule of Deliberate Creation.
(See Part One for further details of these rules.)
The First Rule is the Rule of Attention, What you put your attention on increases in your life. By now many of you have heard, seen, or read, The Secret, the story of the Law of Attraction. Simply put, the idea is that everything that exists is made of energy, you, the clothes you wear, the air you breathe, the chair that you sit in, everything, including the thoughts that we think.
Energy vibrates, and so everything that exists has a vibrational pattern or frequency. Think about that, it has been proving that everything that exists has a vibrational pattern or frequency. The air you breathe, the earth you stand on, the objects you hold in your hand, your body, everything vibrates. That includes your thoughts. Your thoughts are actually electro chemical bits of information, and they have their own vibrational frequency.
There is one law of physics that cannot be broken, vibrations attract vibrations. Like a magnet, our thoughts, and our feelings, attract corresponding vibrational patterns that will support the attracting pattern. In other words if you are vibrating in a negative pattern, i.e. low self worth, low self esteem, you will continue to attract events, and people into your life that will support that vibrational pattern.
Now here is the rub, if you focus all of your attention on your drug of choice, “I don’t want to use drugs, or I don’t want to drink alcohol”, then what you are actually doing is creating the feeling of dread and imagery of using drugs, and alcohol. The feelings created by the thoughts are so powerful in their vibrational attraction, that they will consistently give you the same events and people in your life that will ALLOW you to continue the same behavior over and over again.
If you use drugs to create a feeling of relief, numbness, or pleasure, then you need to figure out other events and ideas that will give you that feeling of pleasure, or relief from your stresses, and learn how to create those types of images in your mind.
It has been discovered that we have thousands and thousands of random thoughts each day, and to even try to think about controlling every thought could scare you enough to go right out and escape the thought by grabbing your drug of choice.
Instead, you must begin to think not so much in terms of thoughts, but in terms of the feelings created by those thoughts. With the power of Hypnosis, you can start cleaning up old images, old thoughts, that consistently lead you back to the same behavior over and over again. Utilizing a powerful technique called Emotional Release Therapy, you can detach from the feelings attached to particular memories, and start building new images, new thoughts that will attract and manifest your new life of Recovery.
How can all this be possible? Well tune into Part Three to learn more.

The Three Rules of Sobriety
Part One
Foundations Hypnosis Seattle ~ Bellevue

A typical call to Foundations may involve a client who is searching for answers to their addiction issues that do not include the use of a 12 step group, and traditional therapy.
Years ago when I was first starting out as a chemical dependency counselor, I was trained in the idea that the only way to treat addiction was through the Minnesota Model, which was based on traditional 12 step jargon.
Back in those days most people who entered into the field of chemical dependency did so because they had gone through their own recovery process, and were bound and determined to help other addicts by getting certified as a chemical dependency counselor, (which back then took about 8 months), and then burnt out after a couple of years of trying to make people quit using these same rules and steps.
Times have changed. When I work with a client who is experiencing chemical dependency issues, I approach it from a view point deemed the three rules of sobriety by one of my clients. These three rules are as follows:
1) The Rule of Attention: What you put your attention on increases in your life.
2) The Rule of Detachment: You are not your thoughts, you are not your body, you are something much, much, more. An urge or a craving is simply a thought that creates an image that creates a feeling. When you learn to detach from your thoughts, you can learn to take control of your reactions, and thus become and an active participant in creating a life free of alcohol and / or drugs.
3) The Rule of Deliberate Creation: Utilizing the power of the brain through hypnosis, you can begin to clean up old images and programs, and create new images, new programs that produce feelings of high self worth, high self esteem, and that will allow you to manifest and experience the type of life that you truly want.
It sounds too good to be true, there has to be some sort of catch, or there has to be more to it than that. Yet hundreds of men and women have gotten themselves off of various drugs, including Crystal Methamphetamine, and Alcohol, and have been able to completely change their lives around.
Just listen to what one client had to say about the Foundations method:
* “I strongly recommend D.L. to anyone looking to seriously face their challenges/fears. He has an amazing ability to zero in on an issue and not waste time talking about all the trivial stuff. During the toughest period of my life, D.L. was one person who I knew believed in my ability to overcome the greatest challenges. Rather than allow me to focus on the problem, he helped me see things in a new light and discover a completely new way of living. Today, I enjoy my life and have a hopefulness and confidence I could never have imagined. I believe that D.L. was the spark that helped fuel my new life.”
Now how is this possible given all of the claims and the warnings put out by 12 step groups and traditional chemical dependency treatment agencies? How can just three simple rules bring about such life changing outcomes?
The first thing to realize is that when you use 12 step methodologies, it does work, for many people, and it is a good first step into sobriety. The second thing to realize is that it does not work for many people, and as a first step it leaves a lot to be desired.
I can’t tell you how many times over the years of my work as a CDP, that I have sat with friends and former clients, who were absolutely positive that despite the fact that they had not used in several years, that they were doomed to relapse on their 12 step birthday.
Twelve steppers are taught that they have to keep coming back for the rest of their lives; the only way to escape the lure of their addiction is to replace that lure with the lure of 12 step meetings.
I also can’t tell you how many times over the last several years that I have had friends and clients who have come to me, and admitted that they feel depressed, they find themselves tied to their meetings in the same way that they are tied to their drug usage. Their question is, “Is this all that there is?”.
I have good news for you, this is not all that there is. There is another road to take, one that may or may not include 12 support groups, but it does include support, it does include you working on your issues, and finally ridding yourself of the need to escape from your issues by using outside influences such as obsessive compulsive behaviors, drugs, or alcohol, or years of talk therapy.
The three rules of sobriety can, and have lead people to a clean and sober life style. It has and can help people regain their self worth, and self esteem, and it has taught people that they are not powerless over their own actions.
