Hypnosis cd | hypnosis software | hypnotherapy downloads

August 2nd, 2010

D.L. Scott CH.t. / CDP / AASD

Recently someone asked me the question, are Hypnotic CD(s), or downloads of hypnosis software worth the cost?

The basic answer is that asking that question is liking asking a nutritionist, is it worth it to buy a book on nutrition, and expecting to get the same results that you might get from actually going to see a nutritionist. The answer would vary from person to person, and just like I tailor my own sessions to my client, instead of trying to make the client fit into the parameters of the session, it depends on expectations and what the buyer does with the CD.

I believe that there is nothing that is going to replace good old fashion 1 on 1 counseling, but on the other hand I always make sure that my client does not leave my office without a CD to use daily in between sessions.  Why is this important?

Many years ago, before I began my career as a hypnotist, I was looking at loosing a few extra pounds. I saw an ad on television and bought a weight loss tape.

When the tape arrived in the mail, I read the instructions, and faithfully listened to the tape every day for several months. Due to my persistence, and my drive to loose weight, I was able to follow through and I did loose the weight.

The tape was the corner stone to the program, without it I don’t think the weight would have come off as quickly or stay off the way it did. This experience was one of the reasons that I eventually became a hypnotist.

When a client first comes to see me, they usually are there to change some pattern of behavior or belief that has been keeping them stuck. As I explain to each and every one of them, you cannot expect a short series of once a week hypnosis inductions to do the work for you, but by listening to the CD, by learning how to induce self hypnosis on their own, anything can be accomplished.

Consider for a moment, you are not your thoughts, you are not your feelings, and yet we generally give all of our power and our attention to our thoughts and feelings. Why is that? Your brain has  two minds: Your conscious mind and your sub-conscious mind.

You can actually learn to control your conscious mind but your sub-conscious mind is beyond your control.

And that’s where the issues lie. Trying to take control of your sub-conscious mind would take way to much time and energy, and it isn’t going to work.

What we resist, persists. In other words when you try hard to control what you are thinking, such as telling yourself, “don’t think about the statue of liberty in New York harbor” the first thing that is going to happen is that you think of the statue of liberty in New York harbor.

Trying to control your thoughts and emotions with will power is not going to work, it hasn’t worked up to now has it. The question is, how to do hypnosis, and a good CD, such as the one you will find on my website, http://dlscottpersonalenergymastery.com/products-page/ will teach you how to effectively create a state of self hypnosis, and also allow you to be guided through a relaxing hypnosis induction that will help manage or eliminate such issues as Panic and Anxiety Attacks, Phobias, Nicotine Addictions, and unwanted Obsessive Compulsive Behaviors.

A good hypnotic tape or CD is going give you tools and skills that will induce the hypnotic effect and allow changes to happen naturally and easily by using stories and metaphors. It will also work with the energy of the emotions that spring out of the memories and images that constantly fill our brains.

Things have changed over the years and now you would be hard pressed to find tapes, in fact the idea of buying CD(s) is becomming less and less appealing to people as we enter the age of downloads, mp3 files.

On my own website http://dlscottpersonalenergymastery.com/products-page/ I offer both CD(s) and downloads of those CD(s). Many clients, report good results from buying and using the product as a part of their own personal growth and change program.

As long as you are willing to be diligent about using the CD, and are willing to institute a daily practice which includes the use of the CD, you will see results.

If you are looking for more 1 on 1 coaching and counseling, or if you are wanting to know more about this powerful life altering experience, if you are dealing with emotional stress, and behavioral issues that have you kept stuck, then don’t delay, call for your first session now, and start living the life you have always dreamed of. Emotional Release Therapy

July 23rd, 2010

DL Scott CH.t. / CDP / AASD

Over the last few weeks I have written about various styles, and different methods of Hypnotism, and Hypnotherapy. These can range from Self Hypnosis; which by the way all hypnosis is basically self hypnosis; to Ericksonian Hypnotherapy, or Dave Elman Hypnotherapy, Parts Therapy, and the current rage which is NLP.

Each Hypnotist is going to approach their clients with their own style and their own unique method, which they learned, (hopefully), from an accredited school.

My own clients quickly discover that when they come to Foundations Hypnosis North Seattle ~ Shoreline ~ Everett, they are going to receive two very important components to their treatment. The first is  something that I would expect from every hypnotist, and that is client centered therapy. In other words, the treatment and the way the treatment is administered, should be tailored to the client, not that the client should be forced in the parameters of the treatment.  In a recent session with a smoking cessation client I was complimented by the client in the way that I tailored the induction to his particular beliefs and needs. He happened to be someone who has a lot of control issues, and finds it hard to let go enough to allow for the full effect of guided imagery, and so I crafted specific phrases and words that would allow him to create and utilize images based in a very non -directive style of induction, used a lot by Milton Erickson.  With this approach I was able to help him empower himself to embrace his own version of tools and skills that he felt comfortable with in his quest to stop smoking.

The next component is my own brand of Emotional Release Therapy, or ERT for short.

Emotional Release Therapy is based on the idea that we are not our thoughts, we are not our bodies, we are not our emotions. Now with that said, we are our thoughts, we are our bodies, we are our emotions, in so much that we are attached to these things, and these things are the vehicle through which we experience our lives, and existence.

The easiest way to visualize this is to think of your car. If you were to get into your car, turn the ignition on, put the car in gear, take off the brake, and then get out of the car, what would happen to the vehicle. Well it would start moving randomly until it bumps into, or crashes into something.

This is what happens to us. Your brain is much like the engine to the car, your body is like the chassis of the car, and your emotions are like the gas. Until you, the real you, the consciousness behind your thoughts, takes control, until you become the master of your thoughts and emotions, you will continue to be lead around by the thoughts running through your brain. You will keep bumping into or crashing into the obstacles and roadblocks. These obstacles can be behaviors, beliefs, cravings, addictions, physical and mental pain, or a host of other things that keep us stuck in the same problems and issues.

When you become a client of this affordable and local treatment agency known as Foundations Hypnotherapy, you will be taught and lead through a very simple, and yet very powerful treatment method called Emotional Release Therapy.  As a Hypnotist in Seattle WA, I have been working with clients in the local Seattle, Shoreline, Everett area for over twenty years, I have utilized, and continue to utilize, Hypnotism, Parts Therapy, NLP, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Chemical Dependency Therapy and Emotional Release Therapy. Out of all of these powerful tools, the one thing that proves the most effective and pulls everything else together is ERT Hypnotherapy.  Emotional Release Therapy has allowed daily users of Crystal Meth, to kick their habit for good. ERT has allowed for swift and complete recovery from things such as nicotine addiction, low self worth, phobias, fears, and anxieties, with out having to spend years and years in more traditional talk therapy.

DON”T DELAY, call for your first session now, and start living the life you have always dreamed of. Foundations Hypnosis and Chemical Dependency Seattle ~ Lynnwood ~ Everett, (206) 417-4900. http://dlscottpersonalenergymastery.com Everett counseling therapist and North Seattle Hypnotherapy

Long Term Effects of Hypnosis

July 20th, 2010

                               Long Term Effects of Hypnosis
                                         DLScott CH.t / CDP

When a new client calls or comes in to see me, there are so many misconceptions and fears regarding hypnosis, that I often times marvel at the fact that people are willing to put aside their fear of hypnosis, to seek out help with whatever issue they are hoping to resolve.
I was onced asked if it is hard to hypnotise a client, and I quickly responded with the fact that the hardest thing is to break the hypnotic trance that a client brings into the office with them. If that sounds a little strange, let me say here and now, “we are in trance state most of, if not all of, our waking states”. Whether we think we can, or we think that we
can’t it becomes true for us. In other words, if you think that you can’t stop smoking, then you can’t stop smoking, if you think that you can stop smoking, then you can stop smoking. If you think that you are a loser and nothing will ever go right for you, then you will exhibit the traits of being a loser and nothing will ever go right for you.  Our thoughts
determine our life circumstances and until you change your thoughts and beliefs, then nothing will ever really change for you.
How many of you have heard about the person who won the lottery, only to be broke again within a matter of months or few years.  On a clinical level, with a trained hypnotherapist, you will be shown how to use self hypnosis, and you will learn about how safe hypnosis is, and how beneficial the process really is. Hypnosis is safe for teens, it is safe
for adults, and in the hands of a certified counselor and hypnotherapist, hypnosis can help you obtain the life you have always dreamed of, but always seemed to be out of your reach.
Unlike stage hypnotism, which can be great entertainment, but creates a lot of inaccuracies, and misconceptions, clinical hypnosis delivered by a safe hypnotherapist is simply a matter of changes beliefs and eliminating deeply held emotions, and feelings, that the client has been supressing for many years.
Unlike what people are may believe, hypnosis has no harmful long term or short term effects on the mind or body. It does help eliminate effects of long term and short term effects of stress on the body, and thus helps with pain, illnes, and disease. I recall one client who came to see me for pain management control by her Dr. She had recently
been through carpal tunnel syndrome surgery, and was taking a long time to heal. After 8 to 10 months her Dr. had referred her to my services, and not only did she swiftly recover from her first surgery, but she also used the techniques I taught her to cut down her recovery time from a second carpal tunnel surgery on her other hand. The recovery time in
this case was 2 weeks.
It is surprising to me, when a client comes into my studio, hoping to find relief from there presenting issue, and during the first attempt at hypnosis, they have such a fear of hypnosis, which includes such things as being made to act in some bizzare behavior, or being made to do something against their will, they spend a lot of time resisting the
process. Eventually with patience and explanations, the client will allow themselves to relax, and focus their mind on letting go of negative emotions, and negative thoughts, and allow themselves to focuse on positive emotions, and positive thoughts.
After a short series of sessions, usually 6 to 8, the client has reached the point that they can now succcessfully manage or have successfully eliminated the unwanted emotion or behavior on their own. The benefit(s) of this can be life saving. If it is smoking cessation, then the benefits are very obvious, if it is stress related, the
benefits to the health and well being of the client are remarkable on many levels. The number one health concern in this country is stress related illness and disease. With just prolonged stress in the body, a person has to deal with tight mucles, increased blood pressure, decreased ability of the body to rid itself of toxins, and an increase in those toxins.
More and more helath care providers are recognizing these helpful effects and are recommending their patients to attend classes on hypnosis, relaxation techniques, medition, and yoga.
As someone once said, the only thing that we have to fear is fear itself. There is nothing to fear from recieving  lessons, and sessions from a fully trained and licensed hypnotherapist. Always check to make sure that anyone you hire is creditialed and or licensed with the state.
In my case I have been a counselor, hypnotherapist, and chemical dependency counselor with the state of  Washington for a little over twenty years. I employ techinques of hypnosis, and cognitive behavioral therapy that I have been trained to perform while working in various mental health agencies, chemical dependency agencies, and through
certified schools that teach these techniques.
Is hypnosis safe? Absolutely!!!  You have the right to check out your chosen provider to make sure they are registered with the state so you know that you are working with a safe hypnotherpist.
DON”T DELAY, call for your first session now, and start living the life you have always dreamed of.  Foundations Hypnosis and Chemical Dependency Seattle ~ Lynnwood ~ Everett, (206) 417-4900. Everett counseling therapist and North Seattle Hypnotherapy

Different Styles of Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy

July 19th, 2010

Different Styles of Hypnosis and

Hypnotherapy

DLScott CH.t. / CDP

Hypnosis has been around for a long time, and during that time it has gone through phases, changes and styles that match the needs and beliefs of the time.

Since ancient times it has been associated with Shamanism, religion, healing, magic, and in ancient Egypt it is believed that it was used in “sleep chambers” for the very reasons I mentioned above.

In ancient Egypt, China, Jewish rituals, and Hindu ceremonies, the Trance phenomenon was used to help elicit cures and changes in people.  This style of hypnosis continued for many years.  The common man thought of hypnosis in terms of faith healing, prayer work, and supernatural powers that were attributed to holy men, or medicine men, The Shamans of the community.

Ancient Far Eastern practices such as Buddhism,  martial arts, and meditation, were teaching people to induce trances through forms of self hypnosis, and guided imagery,  while Western philosophies were relying on forms of Prayer Work to induce the state.

It was later found that Native American practices relied on types of Prayer, sweat lodges, and even certain herbs and plants to induce altered states which we now know as the Alpha brain wave state.

The father of modern medicine, Hippocrates, did write about “incidences of hypnotic types of trance, but primarily it remained in the hands of the spiritual leaders of the tribes.

Throughout the ages there were military leaders and madmen who seemed to grasp the ability to utilize certain words and phrases that would incite people, actually manipulate them into a form of mass hypnosis.

Due to the work and research of such people of Anton Mesmer; from whom we get the term mesmerism; people like Janet Bramwell, Roger Bacon, Emile Coue, and noted father of psychology Sigmund Freud, Hypnosis has slowly been brought into the modern times.

Most people have received their knowledge of hypnosis, and hypnotherapy through the entertainment field, stage hypnotist, movies, television, and books, and generally when clients come to see me for the first time, or call me to ask questions about the process, their questions are usually based on what they have seen or heard through the field of entertainment.

One other little discussed field of hypnosis, (in the clinic field of hypnosis that is),  is erotic hypnosis which is primarily concerned with such things as fetishes, animal training, submission, and sexual fantasies.

Many people are not aware that the modern day movement known as New Thought Spirituality was actually started by a man named Phinneas Parkhurst Quimby, a hypnotist who lived in the later part of the 19th century and the earlier part of the 20th century.  Phinneas was a talented hypnotized who deduced that many spiritual healings were actually accomplished through hypnotic trance.  He went on to train such people as Mary Baker Eddy, the founder of The Church of Christian Science, and his trainings influenced Ernest Holmes, the Founder of The Church of Religious Science and Charles and Myrtle Philmore, who founded The Unity Church.  Each of these churches teaches a variation of a technique called Scientific Mind Treatment. Scientific Mind Treatment usually includes having the person close their eyes, focuses on their breathing, and use some form of words or guided images which help to induce and deepen the trance phenomenon.

One of the more recent avenues of interest when it comes to New Thought Spirituality is the idea of The Law of Attraction. The basic idea of The Law of Attraction is that we attract into our lives, that which we focus our attention on.  There are many people and groups that have capitalized on this belief and claiming that just by using guided imagery, meditation, and specific forms of self hypnosis, you can alter or change your life by producing the physical manifestation of anything that you concentrate on in your mind.  While the idea is being shown to be true through such fields of research as Quantum Physics,  the popularizing of the effect is being thrown at the general public without including such important factors such as gaining control of your feelings, emotions, and thoughts, through such things as Emotional Release Therapy, of The Law of Conscious Attention.  All of these factors and ideas are utilized and taught through hypnosis, self hypnosis, and such techniques as EMDR.

In the late sixties a man named Jose Silva developed a wildly successful program called Silva Mind Control.  While Mr. Silva said that his program was deferent than hypnosis, it actually trained the participant in a form of meditation or self hypnosis, and allowed the participant to lower their brain waves patterns into the Alpha brain wave state. While in this state, Mr. Silva used guided imagery to create all manner of effects that produce physical healings, allow weight loss, smoking cessation, and produce an increase in desired events and activities.  All of these same effects are documented and recorded in people who  utilize hypnosis and self hypnosis.

More recently there has been resurgence in the practice of Buddhism, and the more modern version in our culture, Mindfulness.  Mindfulness is being taught, through programs at such places as the University of Washington, to patients in an effort to help manage their cravings to substances such as alcohol, and other chemical substances.

In any case hypnosis utilizes specific techniques that access the incredible potential and power of the conscious and subconscious mind.

In my own practice I teach clients to use Emotional Release Therapy, self hypnosis, and specific mindfulness techniques to help them release, manage, and eliminate beliefs and behaviors that have caused them to remain stuck in problems and issues that they have not been able to deal with through any other form of therapy.

My clients will come seeking magic, a type of treatment that will put them to sleep and when they wake up there problems will be gone.  What they find is a way to access an incredible power that they have had all along, the power to use the energy of their subconscious mind to cure themselves.  They are taught to take control of their thoughts and emotions, to learn how to become the Master of their lives, instead of the victims of their circumstances. The Success of Smoking Cessation and Counseling for Teens

July 8th, 2010

Teenager Counseling and Smoking Cessation Programs

DLScott CH.t.  / CDP / AASD

I have noticed a trend of late in the rate of teen smoking and smoking cessation for teens.   In my long career as both a chemical dependency counselor and hypnotherapist, in the Seattle ~ Everett area, I have found myself working with people of all ages and types, and what I have discovered is that success or failure has little to do with age.  It all boils down to beliefs, and agreements that we have adopted and that we have attached emotional meaning to.

I have worked with several programs for teens. In terms of smoking cessation for teens,  there has always been one basic criterion in common, they had decided to quit smoking and were ready to utilize the tools presented to them in Foundations Hypnosis Seattle ~ Everett smoking cessation program.  (During the years I have found this to be true whether I was working in private practice or working through a Mental Health agency such as a national smoking cessation program through a medical cooperative).

I recall one client who was so determined to quit smoking that he was able to quit a week ahead of schedule because he applied the tools and skills so passionately and daily, that it would have been hard not to imagine him being able to quit smoking before his chosen quit date.

Generally the success of hypnosis as a smoking cessation program is the highest of any of the smoking cessation tools, and that includes teen smoking, programs for teens, and any other teen counseling programs.

The statistics show that success rates run from 92% to 98%, and when you compare that to other smoking cessation programs, nicotine patches, cold turkey, cognitive behavioral  counseling programs all at between 7% to 27%, it shows how powerful and valuable this tool actually is.

When it comes to quit smoking success stories, just listen to what a couple of Foundations Hypnosis clients have said:

“After nearly 30 years of smoking I was able to quit with the help of Foundations Hypnosis North Seattle ~ Everett, technique’s developed by DL Scott.
Even though I had tried everything I could find in attempts to quit, it was only with DL Scott’s guidance and support that I was finally free.
I have not smoked, nor wanted to, in over 12 years.

“Mykal Amare

“I feel great about this program. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to quit. I find the tools given, such as the CD, the self hypnosis training, the step down process, have all made this an easy and enjoyable experience for me.”

T. Weaver

“I was able to quit so easily and comfortably, that I have recommended it to both family and friends. It was the best money that I ever spent.”

B. Wilson

History of Hypnotherapy in Seattle

July 6th, 2010

DLScott CH.t. / CDP / AASD

As a Seattle Washington Hypnotist, I have recently joined the reformed Washington Hypnosis Association. I was a member many years ago, when I was in private practice before, but the WHA (Washington Hypnosis Association) eventually disbanded and was replaced by The National Guild of Hypnosis, Washington Chapter. At this most recent meeting I was asked, by a newer member, about the history of hypnosis, especially Seattle Hypnotherapy.

The member already knew the basics of the history of hypnosis; Hypnosis is Ancient, older than the hieroglyphics found on tombs as early as 3,000 B.C. It is believed that some of the first hypnotists were the shamans, seers, and sages, wise men, witch doctors, high priests etc. They knew about Anton Mesmer, Emile Coue, Roger Bacon, and even Sigmund Freud.

What they really wanted to know about was the history of the Seattle Washington Hypnotist, and Seattle Hypnotherapy.

There were many advances in the field of Hypnotherapy, during the twentieth century. Hypnotism was used to treat shell shock, later called Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, cases in the two World Wars. Dentists used hypnotic –anesthesia on a regular basis in their practices, while dental / medical associations in several countries granted recognition of the therapeutic practice of hypnotism. In fact, in 1955 the British Medical Association approved the use of hypnotherapy as a valid medical treatment. This was followed by the American Medical Association, in 1958, as they stated that they supported hypnotherapy and medical uses of hypnosis.

It was during the 1950(s) that several professional associations or hypnotists sprang up. One of which was The National Guild of Hypnotists, which was soon followed by chapters in various states. Influential WA. based hypnotherapists started the WA. Chapter of the National Guild.

One of the most famous and influential WA. based hypnotherapists was a man named Charles Tebbetts. Charles Tebbetts started his career when he was playing in a band at a night club that also employed a stage hypnotist. Charles was intrigued by the nightly show even after a period of several months; during which time he also became aware that the stage hypnotist showed signs of having a problem with alcohol. At one point the stage hypnotist failed to show up, Charlie was able to fill in for the absent hypnotist and thus began the career of Charles Tebbetts!

From there Charles Tebbetts began what would become his biggest passion in life, the practice and teaching of Hypnotherapy. He eventually opened a training center in Edmonds, WA. where he trained another influential and if not nationally known Hypnotherapist, he is certainly widely known as an influential Wa. based hypnotherapist, and that is Roy Hunter. Roy teaches a fully credited class in Hypnosis, and Hypnotherapy at the Community College in Tacoma Wa. He is also the author of two very powerful books on the subject, The Art of Hypnosis and The Art of Hypnotherapy.

There are many more very good and very powerful Seattle based hypnotist that are currently practicing in the field, and in each case, these practitioners are members of Associations and Guilds where they can gain insight and trainings from their fellow practitioners.

Right now I would have to say that Washington Hypnosis Association is one of the best of the local groups. It allows for influential WA. based hypnotherapists to join together in a spirit of cooperation, and collaboration to assure that clients receive the best treatment possible. It is also in the process of bringing the top names from both in state and out of state to share their expertise and knowledge to keep Seattle Hypnotherapy on the cutting edge of the best the field.

Hypnosis is at the center of many mind-altering techniques and methods, such as meditation, forms of guided imagery, biofeedback, EMDR, Gestalt Therapy, etc. In short, Hypnosis is constantly growing in popularity as an effective means of helping people lead more pleasurable, productive, and powerful lives whether that be in the local Seattle Hypnotherapy arena, or in other parts of the country.

If you are wanting to know more about this powerful life altering experience, if you are dealing with emotional stress, and behavioral issues that have you kept stuck, then don’t delay, call Foundations Hypnosis Seattle ~ Everett at (206) 417-4900 today. Mindfulness and Hypnosis in Seattle ~ Lynnwood ~ Everett

July 1st, 2010

Mindfulness and Hypnosis

Letting go of the Stress that keeps us Stuck.

DLScott CH.t. / CDP / AASD

I was just having lunch with a friend who was anxious to tell me about the latest book he has been reading. The book sounded great, Eat, Pray, Love, by Elizabeth Gilbert.  As my friend continued to talk about the book, he said how he had heard all of the information before, but the style of writing was such that it was as though he was hearing it for the first time.

As I continued to listen to him talk about the book, I heard him say how something is still holding him back from taking action, and he is not sure what it is. I was reminded of my work with clients in counseling sessions, chemical dependency treatment settings, and clinical hypnosis. In all of these cases the client wants desperately to let go of old beliefs and emotions that are holding them back, but they feel stuck.

I asked him to stop for a moment, and as he asked himself “What is holding me back”, please ask himself the question(s)  “Where did this thought come from” and answer, “from me” ; “who created this thought”, and answer, “I created this thought”,  and finally “Who am I”.  As soon as he got an answer to the last question, “Who am I, no matter what the answer, go right back to the first question, “where did this thought come from?”.  I asked him to please do this 4 or 5 times and then let me know what he came up with.

His answer, like a lot of my clients, was varied and far reaching.  The reason I asked him to do this exercise was because he seemed to be struggling with letting go of his thought processes, and just taking action or being in the moment.

It is a common theme in our lives; we become so entwined in our thoughts, in our egos that we forget to experience the moment. We, in fact, become so entwined in our analysis of whatever is going on, that we actually loose ourselves. We lose the experience of the moment, and we become stressed, anxious, nervous, and almost phobic about the idea that WE are not doing this right, WE are not good enough. We are not living up to the expectations of those around us, those who raised or influenced us, and those who told us how we should act, WE actually get lost in the trap of our egos. We begin to believe that we are our thoughts, we are egos, and we forget how to enjoy life.

This condition can, and does lead to all types of conditions, such as chemical dependency, low self worth, low self esteem, anxiety, phobias, stress, obsessive compulsive behaviors, and eventually great dis-ease in the body.

How can we stop the madness? One very powerful tool is called Mindfulness, a meditative technique that dates back thousands of years.  At Foundations Hypnosis ~ Seattle ~ Lynnwood ~ Everett, I teach my clients how to regain their own identity, how to let go of the worry about the future, and the guilt of the past, by realizing that they are not their thoughts, they are not their feelings, they are not their bodies, there are the consciousness behind all of these things.

Using Self-Hypnosis, Mindfulness exercises, such as the one listed above, and powerful Hypnotic trance states, including Emotional Release Therapy, coupled with the power of Neuro-linguistic Programming techniques, clients are able to release deeply held beliefs that have kept them stuck for years.  These beliefs create the emotions that cause them to believe that they are not good enough, not worthy enough, flawed in some manner that they must try to cover over with such behaviors and conditions as excess weight, nicotine addiction, obsessive compulsive behaviors, alcohol and drug abuse, or issues of anxiety and stress.

Within a few short sessions, clients find themselves letting go of old behaviors with no effort. They begin developing new behaviors, new strategies that allow them to live a happy, healthy, and productive life.

Just this week, one of my clients was commenting on how surprised he was at the ease in which he was able to give up daily drinking. “I was nervous, I was scared that I would not be able to do it, but now I am facing each day with a new confidence, and new empowerment, that I never knew that I had.”

This client has expressed to me that he has started attending support groups, “something I never would have imagined myself doing, and actually getting up each day, looking forward to the day”.

If you are wanting to know more about this powerful life altering experience, if you are dealing with emotional stress, and behavioral issues that have you kept stuck, then don’t delay, call Foundations Hypnosis Seattle ~ Everett at (206) 417-4900 today. Hypnosis and Chemical Dependency Part Two

June 28th, 2010

Emotional Release Therapy

Hypnosis & the Ego

DLScott CH.t / CDP / AASD

In my last blog, I mentioned that I and a fellow hypnotherapist lead a class on Saturday June 26th, on Emotional Release Therapy.  In the past several years I have used this technique to help people move beyond their chemical dependency issues, utilizing clinical hypnosis,  and self hypnosis techniques, that teach clients how to let go of old thoughts and old behaviors, that have kept them stuck in the same patterns for years.

It brings to mind the question just what is the subconscious mind, and why does it create such problems for people?

There are basically three parts to your brain, The first part is the reptilian brain, this part of your brain is primarily in control of all automatic and autonomic functions of life, such as breathing,  pulse rate, and blood flow,  all those bodily functions that we have to have to live, and yet we never have to think of.

The second part of your brain is the sub cortical or subconscious.  From the moment you are first born all of the events, experiences, and information are downloaded into your subconscious through your senses; sight, hearing, touch, taste, smell. Each and every one of these images is neatly tucked away and utilized as part of our unique personal programming.  In many cases this programming becomes outdated and corrupted throughout time.

As an example, you when you were younger you may have had an adult grab you and pull you out of harm’s way, (such as being pulled from incoming traffic), this was actually a very good thing, but your young mind perceived it as someone manhandling you, or pushing you around. The recorded memory was there, it stayed there, and over time the message you received became corrupted and told you that people were going to restrict your movements, try to control you, etc. The subconscious simply does its job and keeps playing this memory over and over again, you may have even gotten to the point where you don’t consciously recall the incident, but you do feel the emotions that have gotten attached to that image.

In the present time, you constantly feel like you are constricted, controlled, pushed around, not listened to, and you exhibit behaviors that might temporarily make you feel better, BUT once the temporary fix is over, you are still in the same spot trying to deal with  memories and images that create feelings of low self worth, lack of control, etc.

The Ego is that collection of memories and images contained in your subconscious, your thoughts, where these often times buried or masked images play over and over again, and we are unaware that we have given our control and power away, allowing these things to guide and create our life.

With the techniques of Emotional Release Therapy, and Mindfulness Training, you will be astounded at the speed and ease in which you will let go of the emotions attached to those thousands and thousands of random and often useless thoughts that fill our subconscious.

If you had to monitor each and every thought that make up your Ego, you would never have time to do anything else. With Emotional Release Therapy, and Mindfulness training, you will be able to let go of the idea that you are those thoughts, that you are your feelings, and instead you will become the absolute master and controller of your own brain.

By becoming single minded you will be able to utilize the third part of your brain, the Cortex. The Cortex is that part of your brain, in which you are able to bypass the Ego, or the subconscious, and experience pure thought without the trauma of emotion that keeps you stuck.

Just listen to what one student of the class had to say:

“After taking the Emotional Freedom Therapy class I noticed several breakthroughs!  The process is so simple yet very profound.  I had a deeper sense of self choice and self forgiveness in every area of my life as well as releasing stress.  The idea that I can discover if I am single minded (eliminate the subconscious saboteur) with every issue I want to address was powerful.  I now have a new tool in my tool belt! Thank you for sharing your passion and your gifts.”

Once we learn to connect with our true selves, and utilize that part of our brain called the Cortex, there is nothing that can hold you back.

Hypnosis and Chemical Dependency

June 25th, 2010

Part One

DLScott CH.t. / CDP / AASD

What if you could stop the use of addictive substances swiftly, easily, and with minimal effort? What if you could learn how to gain the same good feelings, and stress relieving benefits that you get when you indulge in your favorite substance or compulsive behavior?

This Saturday, June 26 I, and a fellow hypnotherapist, Kathie Brodie, are leading the first of a class called Emotional Release Therapy, and although the title suggests that it is just about a hypnotic technique designed to help clients detach from negative and fear based emotions that keep them stuck in old patterns and behaviors, it is much more than that. It is in fact a class that teaches a technique I refined during my work in outpatient chemical dependency treatment centers, helping clients have amazing success with their recovery issues while working within the context of chemical dependency counseling, and adding the power of clinical hypnotherapy.

You see I have worked in outpatient chemical dependency  for a little over twenty years, and while I have had the opportunity to use and practice the skills of the various concepts of chemical dependency counseling, helping people to create and live a life of sobriety, in both the outpatient chemical dependency arena, and the inpatient chemical dependency treatment arena, better known to those in the field as residential treatment centers, I have also had the opportunity to learn and use hypnosis and chemical dependency counseling in tandem.

As an example, a recent client had come to me with a complaint of addiction to alcohol. Oxiconten and nicotine.  I  spent the first session performing the ASAM, (American Society of Addiction Medication), evaluation coupled with an evaluation geared more specifically toward nicotine and Mental Health issues, and came up with a program that included clinical hypnotherapy techniques, chemical dependency counseling,  daily self hypnosis exercises,  off site support, (not specifically 12 step support, but if the client so chooses,  that type of support is encouraged and honored),  and specifically Emotional Release Therapy to enhance outpatient chemical dependency counseling.  I am happy to report that the client has not used in over three weeks, and is actively pursuing their goals in a number of arenas such as increased employment, and healthier relationships.

I worked for years in treatment centers that demanded strict adherence to traditional concepts of chemical dependency counseling.  Treatment centers that produced cookie cutter treatment plans that did not take into account the personality, the strengths, and the weaknesses of the clients that they were serving. Instead of immediately sending a person off to residential treatment, or simply assuming long held beliefs regarding all of the various issues that the client brings into the treatment center I wanted to work in a place where the client is given solid chemical dependency counseling, and shown how to enhance their own strengths and how to manage or eliminate old negative beliefs and behaviors through the use of clinical hypnotherapy, and the power of hypnosis, and self hypnosis.

While working in the field I was introduced to the power of Mindfulness as taught to clients in an outpatient chemical dependency treatment program that started and continue at the University of Washington.  Adding to these powerful Mindfulness treatment concepts I teach and utilize clinical hypnotherapy that accelerates a client’s progress so that they do not get stuck in months and months of traditional outpatient or inpatient treatment programs.

Many clients are leery about traditional chemical dependency treatment, whether it is residential treatment or outpatient treatment.  They have expressed fears and concerns re: getting stuck in months and months of focus upon the issues, instead of swift and powerful techniques that focus on the solutions.

Unleash the Power of Subconscious Mind through The Power of Attention with Foundations Hypnosis Seattle ~ Lynnwood ~ Everett

June 22nd, 2010

DLScott CH.t. / CDP / AASD

How many times do you receive invitations to learn how to make your dreams come true through the power known as “The Law of Attraction”?  It seems like everyone has jumped on the bandwagon, and are now making claims that amount to the promises that if you simply think positive thoughts, and repeat daily affirmations, the riches of the universe will be delivered to your door.

If this is the case why are there so many people living in a state of lack, and feeling so much stress, and anxiety, that they are unable to sleep at night, or turning to all manner of substances and behaviors  that are causing them such negative consequences, that they feel like their lives are falling apart.

There is an answer, but it is not always the answer that so many people are promised.  You can use the tremendous power of your mind to create the Life You Want, the Life You Were born to Experience, but YOU must take personal responsibility for the Life You already have.

When you wake up in the morning, what is the first thought(s) that come to mind? Do you groan, and say to yourself, “oh god another day to get through”, or do take a deep breath, and thank the universe for another night of rest and comfort in your warm bed?

What we put our attention on is what we continue to perceive in our lives.  When we focus on the negative, stressful, events and issues in our lives, we are going to continue to experience everything that comes to us in a negative and stressful way.

Several years ago, when I was an avid scuba diver, I could not go out to anywhere, the supermarket, gas station, coffee shop, etc., without running into at least 3 or 4 scuba divers a week. Once I curtailed my own scuba diving activities, and my mind was not as focused on this subject, I stopped running into other scuba divers on a regular basis. Now the question is, was I magically attracting these scuba divers into my life, or was I focused so much on something I loved, that I was recognizing others who shared this same passion? Either way the result was the same, but the message underneath is much more profound.  WHAT WE PUT OUR ATTENTION ON, INCREASES IN OUR LIVES!!!!!

If you spend your day(s) complaining and focusing on everything that you dislike, or don’t want, then this is what you are going to keep getting in your life. You won’t have the ability to see the good things when they are staring you in the face.

To shift your attention, and start to experience the good that is front of you each day, you must let go of the negative energy of the past. The quickest and most powerful way of doing this is through Self Hypnosis, Hypnosis, Hypnotherapy, and Emotional Release Therapy.

Within just a few short sessions of Foundations Hypnosis Seattle ~ Lynnwood ~ Everett, you will learn how to switch your emotional, vibrational, patterns, from those that guarantee that you constantly struggle to those that guarantee  the experience of pleasure, abundance, increased self worth, elimination of addictive and compulsive behaviors, and the ability to ACTUALLY enjoy the type of life that you have always fantasized about, dreamed about, and wanted.

It is up to you, THE POWER is within you; learn simple basic techniques to unleash this power.  You may not become the next Bill Gates or Warren Buffet, but you will learn how to increase the joy, the abundance and the pleasure in your life.
