Treating Addictions with Hypnosis

Monday, July 4th, 2011

DLScott CHt. / CDP / AASD

Welcome back. It has been a busy couple of months here in North Seattle, and I have been kept very busy, using my skills and talents working in the field of mental health and substance abuse, trying to learn new ways of helping people over come major issues in their lives, and helping them find new avenues to achieve their goals, hopes, and dreams. I have learned some new ideas, and have had old ideas reaffirmed, and am still utilizing these ideas in the best way possible to create the best new hypnotic treatments and cutting edge Mental Health, and Substance Addiction treatments for my clients. As always my work and research keep coming back to my passion, the field of substance abuse, and hypnosis.

Drugs and compulsive behaviors are an emotional anesthetic, an antidote to a frightful feeling of emptiness. While hypnosis and NLP can not promise a cure for the desease model of chemical dependency, it does provide a way to detach from emotional issues that keep pulling a person back to their compulsive behaviors, and addictions, (whether that be nicotine, alcohol, stimulants, or depressants), in spite of the consequences to your health, your relationships, and your job. Foundation Hypnosis and NLP, North Seattle, helps you to uncover the demons that have been plaguing you and causing you to relay on unhealthy habits, and behaviors, and teaches you new behaviors, and new skills, to help you move ahead in life, and achieve your goals and dreams.

Ask yourself this question: if my compulsive behavior is causing me problems with relationships, my job, and my health, why do I keep chosen to repeat the same action over and over again, and expect a different result? We are creatures of habit. Think about that, we have daily routines, and daily habits, that we have been performing for years, without given it a second thought.

When you wake up in the morning you stumble out of bed, hop in the shower, grab a cup of coffee, turn on the news, get dressed, and quickly head out the door. You don’t have to think about it, it just comes automatically, and without any conscious thought. After several repetitions, your subconscious accepts the new programming, and takes control. In fact that habit becomes so ingrained, so powerful, that you actually feel a sensation of stress and anxiety if you don’t perform the programmed behavior.

The same is true of your other habits and other behaviors. Whether it be smoking, drinking, procrastination, inpatients, angry outbursts, gambling, compulsive behaviors such as eating, smoking, negative thinking, worry, judgments, and taking things personal, they are all pretty automatic, and seemingly impossible to stop.

Hypnosis works by implanting new healthy habits into your subconscious, but before it can do that it is important to clear out the emotions attached to old memories, and images. It is a lot like preparing the soil when you plant new seeds. You want to get rid of the weeds, and debris that have kept the seeds from taking hold.

From the very first session, Foundations Hypnosis and NLP of North Seattle, Shoreline, and Everett, utilizes a unique therapeutic tool called Emotional Release Therapy, that reduces and eliminates anxiety, and stress. The client is also taught easy methods of self hypnosis, and mindfulness that clean up the old feelings of low self worth, low self esteem, negativity, and emotional trauma, in much the same way that you have to clean and fertilize the soil before you start planting new seeds. At the second session, the client is then ready to have new strong, positive, healthy behaviors implanted into the subconscious level of their brain.

Just listen to what one recent client had to say:

“After just the first session I found myself able to focus on my school work, finish projects that I would have normally put off tell the last minute, and find time to actually relax and enjoy myself without the stress and worry of things undone. On top of all of that I am able to get rid of headaches by just practicing my daily exercises, and listening to the hypnotic CD(s) provided as a part of the service. Thanks Foundations, I feel great”
A.M. Seattle Wa, University Student.

The Power of Hypnosis and How It Can Change Your Life

Saturday, March 26th, 2011

By DLScott CDP / NLP / CDP

It seems like a long time since I last wrote a blog for this website, and in reality it has been a while.

I have taken a break as I explore more skills, tools, and techniques to help my clients obtain their goals. What I have learned during these last few weeks is that by focusing on the tools of Self Hypnosis, Mindfulness, and Emotional Release Therapy, I believe that Foundations Hypnosis Seattle – Everett – Bellevue, has been made even stronger.

While I have continued to explore specific techiques and hypnotic inductions, what I keep coming back to is the idea of Mindfulness and NLP, (Neuro Linguistic Programming), and Emotional Release Therapy.

Over the years I have worked within the field of social and human services, such as my current work  in both the Hypnosis field, and the Chemical Dependency field with a state funded agency. In both of these areas I have focused on the tools of Hypnosis / Mindfulness Emotional Release Therapy, and Dialetic Behavioral Therapy. Combining these clinical proven techniques has proven effective and powerful in helping my clients reduce or eliminate a wide variety of issues, and complaints, such as Anxiety, Phobias, Substance Abuse and Addiction, Sleep Disturbances, Personality Disorders, Pain Management, Nicotine Addiction, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorders. While I would never claim that Hypnosis, and Mindfulness are cures all for all issues, nor would I claim the Emotional Release Therapy Technique used and taught by Foundations Hypnosis North Seattle – Lynnwood – Shoreline, I will state that learning these techniques and employing these techniques will drastically reduce or eliminate effects of the above mentioned issues, plus a lot more.

With Foundations Hypnosis Seattle – Bellevue, you will learn techniqes, including self hypnosis, emotional release therapy, NLP, and mindfulness  that allow you to detach from the stress and trauma assoicated with old memories, images, and programming that we carry around with us all the time.

Within a matter of one session you will be able to dramatically change feelings, and emotions that have kept you stuck in old behaviors, and old patterns for years.

Think about that, when you begin to view old images and memories of traumatic events and situations in your life, those images, memories cause your body to be flooded with effects of stress, e.g. muscle tension, high blood pressure, shortness of breath, and other feelings that make up what are generally known as the fight or flight response.  Take just a moment to recall a recent event, such as an argument with your partner, loss of a loved one, perhaps a fight with your boss. Really allow yourself to bring that image into your consciousness very clearly, notice the colors, the sounds, the details of the image. Now notice the effects that this image has on your body.

Now think of that same image, only change it some way. Make it less clear, make it faded out, add silly music to it. Now notice the effects that this image has on your body. You will notice that the image no longer is stressful or as frightening as before. You have just learned an important concept of NLP, (Neuro Linguistic Programming), when you change the coding of a memory or image in your brain, the image no longer has the same impact.

This is just one of the amazing things that you can do by learning to utilize the power of your brain, through techniqes taught by Foundations Hypnosis Seattle.

When you add this too the techniques of Mindfulness, and Emotional Release Therapy, you will discovery that things you once thought of as insurmontable issues or problems, will seem to just begin to

fade from your life.

If you want to experience fast, powerful, and lasting resulting, CALL NOW, (206) 417-4900 Foundations Hypnosis Seattle – North Seattle – Shoreline, or contact me by taking the brief survey on this website.  You will be glad that you did.

Trances That We Live By:

Saturday, February 19th, 2011

DLScott CH.t / NLP / AASD

It has been a while since I have sat down to write a blog, and as usual many things have occurred in the world and in mylife. I think I about these events, and recognize the methods that are taught by Foundations Hypnosis Seattle to help dealwith these daily events, I realize that it is these events, these life circumstance, these experiences which have and will continue to shape my character, in the same why that these types of events shape the character of my clients. What I am referring to is how we react to the world around us, the process by which each and every one of us creates our own unique personality and EGO.

When you go to see a psychologist, psychiatrist, or other Mental Health Counselor, you are usually going to spend a lot of time revisiting the events of your past as you try to uncover the reasons for your current behavior. While all of this is often times interesting, and can give you some perspective on the details of your life, such as an abusive childhood, a traumatic

event somewhere in your past, an out of the normal situation that caused you to create a way of maneuvering through these life circumstances, it is not the most direct and most effective route to changing current behavior.  As a Certified Hypnotherapist and Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor, I have witnessed how redirecting our thoughts, recoding our memories will swiftly and effortlessly create amazing changes in my clients lives.

No matter what issue a client brings into my office, low self worth, low self esteem, the desire to quit smoking, or stop an obsessive compulsive behavior, eliminating or reducing  the symptoms of stress and anxiety, no matter what the client brings to me, it all boils down to the same thing. What is the trance that is running your life?

No matter what the content of the past events, repeated bad relationships, abusive parents or other abusive adults, or people in your life, those things cannot be changed. What can be changed is the way in which you are currently reacting to circumstances and events in your life. Once you change your thought processes, once you change your reactions to repeated content, (events and life circumstances), you will be amazed at how swiftly your life will change.

I have worked with hundreds of clients who, after learning the techniques of NLP, Mindfulness, and Self Hypnosis, have been able to greatly reduce or eliminate phobias, anxiety, stress, anger and a variety of obsessive compulsive behaviors.  You see, when you react to any situation your brain is generating a trance state, a group of deep trance symptoms that dictate how you act or react in any giving situation. How many times have you found yourself reacting with repeated

patterns of anger, anxiety, or obsessive compulsive behaviors when you are faced with situations in your life? By taking control of your reactions, you will discover that you can; without hours of talk therapy; eliminate behaviors that have kept you stuck for years.

Within just a few sessions of Foundations Hypnosis North Seattle Shoreline Lynnwood Everett, clients have been able to drop emotions and thought patterns that have crippled them for many years.  During the first session you will be expose d to a powerful technique called Emotional Release Therapy that will help you to detach from negative emotions and behaviors, and allow you to start living the life you have always dreamed of.

Call now (206) 417-4900, and set an appointment. You will be amazed at how swiftly and completely you can change your life.

It is 2011, What Role Does your EGO Play in the New Year?

Wednesday, January 12th, 2011

By DLScott CH.t.

I just recently finished working with a client, in my studio where I see clients for Counseling -Hypnosis in North Seattle, Shoreline,  who was complaining of abandonment issues, lack of self confidence, insecurity, need for attention, and jealousy.  He had been having trouble with an assignment that I had given him regarding letting go of the stories that keep him stuck in those issues, and behaviors.
As I explained to him, those behaviors are the result of agreements made long ago, and those agreements were designed and used by his EGO to keep the EGO safe, secure. They would not necessarily kept him happy or living a life of success & joy, but they would allow the EGO to  keep itself in a position of safety and security.

How can this be possible, you may ask.

As I have mentioned before, the biggest fear and terror that EGO has is that of death, complete & total annihilation. When you die, when your physical body dies, the EGO is done. The thoughts, the memories, the images, the totally of our mental scripts, are gone. Now the energy, the awareness, the consciousness that is the true you will go on in some fashion, it is energy, and energy never dies, it simply continues in another form, what that other form is, is still up for debate, and one that I cannot answer. What I can answer is that for you to truly enjoy your existence, for you to truly live a life of success, happiness, and joy, you have to step into the driver’s seat. You have to take control of your life, let go of traumas, fears, addictions, phobias, and anxieties. Forgive your past, and start living your present.  (As someone once said, Forgiveness is giving up all hope of having a better past).  The past is done and over with, it is simply a memory, an electrochemical bit of energy that keeps replaying over and over in your brain. You have no control over this, but you do have control over the present moment, the choices you make in the present moment, and whether you are going to live and EGO centered life, or whether you are going to live a life based in conscious choices and deliberate creativity.

How can you do this?

First you must let go of old attachments, traumas, emotional stresses, and images, and beliefs. You must allow yourself to believe that you can have the life you truly desire.

With Foundations Hypnosis Seattle – Lynnwood – Everett, you will experience The Power of Emotional Release Therapy. You will learn self hypnotic techniques, powerful NLP processes, mindfulness techniques, and how to use the power of your words to create positive outcomes, positive relationships, and powerful events in your life that will eliminate addictions, phobias, pain, fear, and anxieties.

Don’t delay CALL, Foundations Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy, NOW!!!!! (206) 417-4900. Join the hundreds of people who have obtained their goals through sound counseling methods enhanced by the Power of Hypnosis, NLP, and Mindfulness.

Letting Go of The Ego with Hypnosis, Mindfulness, and NLP

Wednesday, December 29th, 2010

DLScott CH.t. / CDP / AASD

It is hard to believe that 2010 is almost over, and we are getting ready to experience the beginning of a new decade. Are you ready to experience the best decade of your life, or are you still hanging on to old beliefs, old behaviors, and all the things that Your Ego dictates is what you are. Have you tried to stop smoking, eliminate addictions, lose weight,  and increase self worth and self esteem? Have you read all of the books and seen all of the videos on the Law of Attraction, and yet nothing seems to change?  Foundations Hypnosis Seattle ~ Lynnwood ~ Everett, has the solution.

One of the firsts thing that I teach my clients is the fact that while we are not our thoughts, we are not our feelings, and we are not our body, we certainly experience our thoughts feelings, and body. And we usually experience it in such a way that could swear that these things are exactly what we are.

Think about that, if someone asks you, “Who are you?” what would you answer?  Most of us would answer, “I am (fill in your name)”, or I am an American citizen, or I am a father, a mother, an (fill in your occupation)”, and a whole list of who we are according to the roles that we play.  Therein lays the problem. We believe we are these things, these roles that we play, such as “I am an addict, I am a cancer victim, I am the survivor of abuse”, and once again the list goes on and on.  It is the EGO that plays these roles, and they actually break down into three roles, 1) Victim, 2) Perpetrator 3) Hero. When your EGO is playing any one of these roles, it has the one thing that it really wants. It has the starring role in the drama you call your life.

What if you were able to do things differently in 2011? What if you were able to stop being a victim, a slave to your thoughts, and feelings, what if you could consciously let go of playing a role in your life, and actually begin living and experiencing your life the way you truly want and desire. What if you found out how easy it is too actually take control, become the master of those thoughts and feelings? It can be done, and one of the easiest ways of doing this is through the use of Hypnosis, Mindfulness and NLP.

Using the techniques of mindfulness and hypnosis, (plus the technique known as Emotional Release Therapy, which has helped hundreds of people eliminate addictive behavior from their lives), I teach my clients how to unattach from these roles created by our thoughts, and allow themselves to become the conscious observer of these thoughts and feelings, and roles.

The first thing to do is to learn to observe the thoughts, don’t attach to them simply let them float through your mind. Long ago in a conference class through Washington Hypnosis Association, I learned a technique that is an easy and effective way of doing this, and can be done without having to go into a deep meditative trance.

The next time you have a thought come up, such as when someone annoys you or does something that is rude, such as tries to cut in line in front of you, simply stop and ask yourself the question, “where did this thought come from”, answer yourself, “from me”, then ask, “who created this thought”, answer, “I created this thought” then ask yourself the question, “who am I”.  No matter what the answer, such as “I am (name)”, or “I am a male, female. Etc.” do not try to analyze the answer, simply go right back to the first question, “now where did that thought come from”.

As you continue to run these questions through your mind, you will begin to notice that every thought is just that, it is a thought, and nothing more.  I personally practice this technique a lot, and have found that I react to my thoughts less and less, and this gives me more options in which I can choose how I want to react in any given situation.

With just this simple Mindfulness technique you can start letting go attachments to your EGO / brain created thoughts, feelings and roles, and start choosing a way of relating to the world and especially your immediate environment that will create and attract a life of abundance, happiness, and joy.

Using Mindfulness you will be able to let go of thoughts and emotions that have kept us stuck, and by adding the deep trance state of Hypnosis you will be able to implant new images, new messages, and the type of positive thoughts and images that will manifest the type of life you desire.

If you are ready to truly change your life, to keep those promises to yourself about becoming a nonsmoker, losing the weight you have been dreaming of, letting go of anxiety, phobias, and fears. Finally being able to get a decent night’s sleep, without waking every few hours plagued by random thoughts, and images that create stress and anxiety, THEN CALL NOW!!!!!  Foundations Hypnosis Seattle ~ Lynnwood ~ Everett serves the Seattle Bellevue area, and is located just minutes from I-5 in North Seattle near Shoreline.  The number is (206) 417-4900.

Removing Doubt Hypnosis & The Law of Attraction

Tuesday, November 30th, 2010

DLScott CH.t. / CDP / AASD

The Law of Attraction is at work all the time. Whenever we think something, or feel something, the Law of Attraction is at work, arranging and uncovering everything that needs to happen to manifest your desire.

What exactly is the Law of Attention? Is it some magical power that you can use to create anything in your life, to get anything that you want? Or is it a basic rule of physics that has been proving over and over again, vibrations attract vibrations.

Everything that exists is made up of atoms, the things that you call matter, and the things that you call energy are both made up of atoms. The atoms that make everything up vibrate with a specific frequency, based on the movement of protons, and electrons around a nucleus.  Our thoughts and our feelings are measurable bits of electro – chemical energy. This means that our thoughts and feelings have specific measurable vibratory patterns, and since the rule of physics is that vibrations attract similar vibrations, then our thoughts and feelings have to attract other similar vibrational patterns.

With that said, what does it mean for you? Does it mean that whatever happens to you or is experienced by you was created by you? Well the answer is yes and no. We did not physically create the events and experiences that we manifest into our lives, but we did attract them through our thoughts and feelings.

Many of my clients and friends will point out that they did not attract the traffic jam that made them late for work, they did not create the horrible relationship that just broke up, they did not cause the loss of their job, and while that may be true. They did attract the vibrational pattern of these events simply by focusing on corresponding negative or positive thoughts and feelings. Think about that. When you get out of bed in the morning, you stub your toe, or you wake up frantic because the alarm didn’t go off, and you are late, and soon things keep getting worse, you spill coffee on your clean shirt, you cut yourself shaving, you run into a traffic jam. Your Law of Attraction is working perfectly. You are focused on negative thoughts and feelings, and the Law is simply responding by arranging and or uncovering events that will allow you to continue to feel and experience your focus of attention. The Law does not discriminate; it simply does its job.

What you need to do is a simple three step process to help you switch your attention to something more positive, and thus attract something more positive in your life.

Step One: Deliberate Manifestation: Decide what you want to experience. Do you want to experience peace, calmness, or joy? Then focus on those things. It is not always easy, when you stub your toe, or you are late to work, or your boss is generally disagreeable, then it will take practice to switch your focus, but believe me when you put this step into place, you will very swiftly start to notice that things begin to show up, that will make your day more pleasurable, and more joy filled.

Foundations Hypnosis Seattle – Bellevue teaches simple and basics skills that will help you to start to identify what it is you do want to experience, and how to express these desires in a powerful and positive way.

Step Two: Focus on your desire: Once you have identified what it is that you really want to experience, you will need to begin to focus your attention on that desire. Sounds simple, but just because something is simple, does not mean that it is easy to do.

Foundations Hypnosis Seattle – Bellevue will teach you how to create and use affirmations that work, and get results. When you tell yourself “I am thin and slender, I have a wonderful relationship that is nurturing and kind”, and yet you feel resistance and negativity because  mind automatically tells you, “that is not true, I am still overweight, or I am still in a bad relationship, etc,” you will need to remind yourself that life is a journey, and that we are always experiencing changes. Focusing on the steps, observing the small changes that occur, will allow you to build up your positive belief. Keeping a daily gratitude journal or a daily success journal are two easy and effective ways of helping you to change from a negative focus to a positive focus.

Step Three: Release and Let Go: The third step is often the most overlooked step, and yet it is one of the most important. I have seen people declare what they want, I have seen them focus on what they want, and then they let doubts creep in. “I can’t lose weight, I have always been fat, or everyone in my family is overweight, or I never meet the right person to be in a good relationship”.  These are simply excuses that our minds create, out of old programming,  to keep us stuck in familiar patterns and behaviors.

Most of what clients come to see me about started with feelings of low self worth and esteem, and feelings of being unworthy. When you have done steps 1 and 2 of The Deliberate Law of Attraction, you will find that the results may be very slow, or will not come at all if you don’t remove feelings of doubt and negative beliefs.

Foundations Hypnosis North Seattle, helps the clients remove old messages and images that cause us to have self doubt, and a lack of confidence, by using a technique called Emotional Release Therapy, and through affirmative messages of self forgiveness while in a hypnotic trance.

If you want to experience the power of deliberate attraction, then CALL  Foundations Hypnosis Seattle ~ Bellevue NOW (206) 417-4900.

North Seattle Counseling Services

Tuesday, November 16th, 2010

DLScott CH.t. / CDP / AASD

What makes Foundations Hypnosis and Counseling Services different than other therapies?  It is a fair question and one that I would hope that people are asking of any Therapist, Counselor, or Hypnotherapist, before they decide to enlist their services as a provided. Along with the fact that many people are concerned about location, (Foundations is located in the north end of Seattle, near Northgate, Haller Lake, Maple Leaf, Mountlake, and Lake City), and people are also concerned with the style and type of therapy that their Therapist or Hypnotherapist is involved in. At Foundations North Seattle Counseling Services, you will be given both the best in Hypnotherapy, and in cutting edge Chemical Dependency Counseling techniques.

As those of you who have experienced Foundations North Seattle Counseling know, this therapy involves a technique called Emotional Release Therapy.  This technique relies upon the ability of the therapist to  get the conscious portion of the mind to drop down into the deepest level of alpha brain wave frequency, (between 8 and 14 cycles per second), in a very quick fashion.  By doing this your subconscious mind will start cleaning up the effects of stress on body cells and tissues, and also help a person unattach from traumatic memories and images that have been creating problems in the area of self worth, self esteem, addictions, phobias, anxieties, prolonged stress effects, (such as though experienced with PTSD), weight retention issues, and chronic pain issues.

While it is true that you don’t have to know specific issues and images that are attached to those stress related effects, some clients feel safer and more empowered when they have specifics to work with, so it is and can be helpful to use some regression work such as age regression, and even past life regression to help a client work on a cognitive level making the Emotional Release Therapy even more effective.

Many clients come to Foundations North Seattle Counseling Services wanting to make sense of questions that they have surrounding spiritual matters.  As mentioned in my last blog, utilizing Hypnosis allows me to help a client safely and effectively explore those themes and ideas in their lives. It also allows a client to explore these ideas while looking at, and working on a  bigger picture of mental, emotional, and physical issues and ideas.

If you feel that this type of counseling is right for you, then CALL NOW!!!!! (206)417-4900. Foundations Hypnosis Seattle ~ Lynnwood ~ Everett is located just minutes off of I-5, about fifteen minutes from Downtown Seattle.

The Ego, Spirituality, and Regression

Thursday, November 11th, 2010

DLScott CH.t. / CDP / AASD

I have recently been reading the book “The Four Insights” by Alberto Villoldo PHD.  In the book there are described three major roles that the EGO plays, The Victim, The Perpetrator, and The Savior. Each of these roles is designed to allow the EGO to be the star of your show, to be the center of your universe. As I mentioned in my last article, the biggest fear of the EGO is total annihilation. In other words when you die, it is the EGO that will die, you, the real you will continue on to the next step in your spiritual journey. The feelings, thoughts, emotions, and body that made up this present incarnation will cease to exist. The brain will stop functioning, the heart will stop beating, and eventually your physical body will turn to dust. This is what the EGO fears, and it is these fears, that cause us such great stress, and hardships.

When a client comes to me, and describes issues that include such things as stress relief, smoking cessation, weight loss, test anxiety, and pain management control, I am able to address these concerns by looking at the entire package. This includes the mental aspect, the emotional aspect, the physical aspect, and the spiritual aspect of counseling.

Most of the time spirituality is ignored when it comes to mental health therapy or chemical dependency therapy. In fact the last agency that I worked in had mandated that we could not address the idea of spirituality in anyway, (although 12 step programs have a rather large component of spirituality attached to them). This meant that a major portion of their lives was being ignored.

Now that my practice is centered more on my role as a hypnotherapist, I am able to directly address more spiritual questions, if that is what the client wants, and help the client explore that side of their life.

As I have stated in the past, you are not your thoughts, you are not your feelings, and you are not your body. I teach dynamic methods to let go attachments to thoughts, feelings, and the body. Sometimes it is necessary to have a conscious memory of what some of the ideas and beliefs are. Although using Emotional Release Therapy does not require that a client remember all of the details of a particular incident, they do need to embrace the fact that there are negative emotions, and feelings attached to ideas and memories from the past, and held in the deeper areas of the subconscious. Once the technique of Emotional Release Therapy has been applied, regression therapy will allow a client to recall incidences that they have consciously forgotten, and they can recall those incidences without the traumatic emotion once attached to them.

Many of my clients embrace the idea of past life regression, some do not. Neither belief system is required to access the power of Emotional Release Therapy, but then neither belief system will diminish the impact that this powerful tool has on the client.

Sometimes it is not necessary to uncover forgotten memories from childhood. My work with Emotional Release Therapy can help a client release the feelings attached to those thoughts and images, but often times just the uncovering of those memories helps the client move beyond fears, phobias, and anxieties that have been keeping them stuck.  Once the memory is uncovered it is easier to forgive the event, or use emotional release therapy to help forgive the event.

As a final note, it has been researched by the Annals of Epidemiology that people who regularly attend religious services tend to be healthier than people who don’t. In fact it has been shown that people who attend weekly church services of some type have a lower risk of health issues than those who have never set foot inside of a church.

If you are ready to explore the entire spectrum of your life, the mental, the emotional, physical, and spiritual, then CALL NOW!!! (206) 417-4900, Foundations Hypnosis Seattle is located in the North Seattle, near Shoreline ~ Lynnwood, just a couple of minutes from the freeway.

Affordable Stress Relief Therapy

Tuesday, November 9th, 2010

DLScott CH.t. / CDP / AASD

Everywhere that I turn these days, I hear about more and more people facing threats and challenges that are causing an increased amount of stress, people are dealing with stress from job loss, violence, credit fraud, illnesses, and lack of health care. Just this morning I was reading a story about a young boy who was allegedly beaten death by four other teenagers at a party he had attend, and he had not even known his attackers before they allegedly killed him. The stress levels in our culture are rising on a daily basis.

I had originally gotten into the field of Hypnosisand Hypnotherapy because of the effects of stress on body.  I was working on an oncology unit and had several discussions with the Oncology Drs.  About the fact that you can give a cancer patient all of the radiation treatment, all of the chemotherapy treatment necessary, but nothing is going to have any true impact as long as you don’t deal with the effects of stress and attitude occurring with the patient.

I decided that I wanted to learn how to help people deal with the effects of their stress and attitude, and what I found out was that they are basically two categories of stress. The first category is short term stress. Now short term stress is a necessary, it helps you respond to actual danger, and helps you to deal with challenges that appear in your life.

In the past,  short term stress served a very useful purpose as our ancient ancestors were often in danger from predators and other life threatening factors in their environment. The effects of the flight or fight response, activited by short term stress, would often mean the difference between life and death.

The second type of stress, Long term stress, does not serve such a nobel purpose. You see the brain does not know the difference between a real or imagined event, and in these very trying times we have to deal with such things as threats in the form of job challenges, relationship challenges, money challenges, violence and bigotry. These threats cause the same fight or flight response to occur in our system, but instead of the effects of the stress response being dissipated once the threat is over, the effects  often time linger on, and our bodies have to deal with the effects on a long term basis.

These effects manifest in five basic ways:
1. Muscles tense up
2. Blood pressure rises
3. Toxins & chemicals are released into the body
4. Our bodies  ability to deal with or eliminate toxins, is lessened, (one primary culprit is Cortisol, also known  as the stress hormone)
5. Our immune system response is dampened, thus leading to increase in disease and ill health

What is the solution to these effects? One of the best solutions is to learn effective methods of self hypnosis, and / or meditation.  When you attend hypnotic sessions at Foundations Hypnosis North ~ Seattle ~ Everett, you will be put into a series of very relaxing hypnotic inductions, during which you will be exposed to a special technique called Emotional Release Therapy. This technique will allow you to gently release the effects of stress on the cells of the body, while it helps you to flush out toxins and excess chemicals easily and effortlessly.  While all of this is happening you will be taught basic techniques of self hypnosis that will allow you to deal with stress that will arise in your future on a daily basis.

Foundations Hypnosis guarantees affordable prices due to the low overhead of owning my own studio where the work is actually done. The therapy is accomplished in as little as four to five sessions, with special low fee maintenance sessions available to you.

The Art of Letting Go and Forgiving Foundations Hypnosis Seattle ~ Everett

Friday, September 24th, 2010

 DLScott CH.t. / CDP / AASD
I was recently working with a client, using my services as a Seattle Hypnotherapist, and counselor, at a conference for recovering addicts and abusers. After one particularly case, I was elated at the  response from the client. He had been dealing with the after effects of sexual abuse he had received from an older teenage boy in the neighbor where he grew up, since he was about 9 years old.

The older boy use to hold bible classes with him, the subject was almost always about the sins of man, and how the SNAKE would always trick and seduce him. The the older boy always used his own snake to embelish the lesson, and the young man put up with it until he was old enough to leave home.  The man had spent much of his adult life trying to drown out the feelings with various drugs, and repeated sexual encounters where he recreated the same situations in which he could continue to prove to himself that he deserved the humilation, abuse, and pain that the older boy had inflicted upon him. The continued drug induced sexual encounters eventually lead to a diagnosis of HIV / AIDS.

As I explained to the man, who was having trouble even sitting in the room alone with another male, this was not intended to be a magic cure, or intended to replace any other therapy that he was encountering. What the process was intending to do was to help him let go of the extreme emotional response that he was experiencing due to the memories he carried with him.

The story was not an uncommon one, the man grew up with a great deal of guilt and shame heaped upon him due to the fact that he was gay, but he also grew up carrying around the guilt and shame of a continuous sexual relationship with this older boy that my client felt he felt was his responsiblity and his fault, because in someway he knew that he was different from other boys, even at the young age of 9, and it was because he was different that the older boy had sought him out and used him for sexual services.

Please be aware that this situation could have just as easily been between a young girl and an older boy, and it would have been just as devestating, (in fact I have worked with clients under those circumstances), but this particular case had the added peice that the young man had already been taught by society that his own feelings for his same gender made him less than, and in someway unclean, and worthy of the abuse.

As a seattle hypnotherapist, and emotionl release therapy specialist, (working a lot in the gay and lesbian community), I have found that by using hypnosis and emotional release therapy to help in the forgiveness process, my clients are able to let go of deeply held feelings of shame, and guilt that have kept them stuck with feelings of low self worth, low self esteem, and often times issues of chemical addiction or abuse.

Working as clinical coordinator for Project NEON, a Public Health funded program in King County, located in Seattle Wa., for over nine years, I have been able to develop many tools and skills that help gay and lesbian community members break through issues of internalized homophobia, and learn to accept who they are without the shame and guilt.

At the end of the session with the above client he was smiling and told me that this was the first time in many, many, years that he could actually breath easily while sitting in a room with another male. I explained to him that this was due to the nature of the hypnotic induction, and the fact that he had been able to let go of traumatic emotional baggage through the application of emotional release therapy.

Many people have trouble with the whole idea of forgiveness. They believe that to forgive someone for what they have done, is like letting the person off of the hook for their behavior. In truth the act of forgiving, is not about the other person, but it is about “giving up all hope of having a better past”.  When you are able to really forgive someone, you will find that you are able to lift a big weight off of your own shoulders. You can, as my client said, breath again for the first time in many years.

Using hynosis, when applied by a qualified Hypnotist / Hypnotherapist, and state cerified counselor, can and does speed up the process, making it easier, and sometimes more long lasting. As an emotional release therapist, I can assure that this is true as I have witnessed this with many of my clients.
