Someone once asked me if it was hard to hypnotize someone?  With a grin I told the person that the hard part is not hypnotizing someone, the hard part is in getting someone to stop hypnotizing themselves.

On the door to my studio, where I see clients as a professional hypnotist, I have a sign that says, Think You Can, Think You Can’t, Either Way You are Right, Hypnotherapy Works.  With these words, one the major reason that people seek out counseling, either from a professional hypnotist, or a mental health counselor, is completely explained.

When a client types in the words, hypnotist Seattle, self hypnosis, or learn how to hypnotize, in a word search, they are generally hoping to find a hypnotherapist in Seattle who can do two things, put them into a state of hypnosis, and teach them how to perform self hypnosis on themselves. If the Seattle Hypnotherapist or Seattle Hypnotist is unwilling to learn how to hypnotize, then you may want to continue to look for one who is willing to teach the appropriate use of this highly effective tool.

When I work with a client at Foundations Hypnosis I do both. I guide them into a state of hypnosis to help them become familiar with the trance state, and to help imprint positive suggestions and positive images that will help alleviate or eliminate the issue or concern that brought them into my office; which could include smoking cessation, phobias, anger management, self confidence, sleeping enhancement, and a host of other complaints.

The idea of helping a client become familiar with the hypnotic or trance state will help when I give them instructions in an effective and conscious method of self hypnosis, and I want them to learn how to hypnotize easily and effortlessly, so then can incorporate this practice in their daily life, just as I have done for most of my life.

As I mentioned before, we put ourselves into the hypnotic state without any conscious effort, on a constant basis. I want my clients to be able to leave my office with the ability to hypnotize themselves and gain control over their own behaviors without having to constantly relay on my help in reaching that state.

The method is easy, usually consisting of 4 to 5 steps, but teaching a client how to do this, is a very important part of any good clinical practice of a professional hypnotist.
